Professional Coffee Roasting / HX System
Rethinking Heat.
A professional coffee roaster built around the HX — Heat Exchange System.

EHIRIX / INDUSTRIAL FORM STUDY 01
01 / THE QUESTION
What if we could rethink the way heat is delivered to coffee?
Roasting is fundamentally a process of transferring energy to coffee.
Rather than starting with the question of how much heat to apply,
we began by looking at how that heat is generated, transferred, and controlled.
That question became EHIRIX.
02 / CORE TECHNOLOGY
HX — Heat Exchange System
Heat is not simply generated.
It is exchanged, transferred, and controlled.

What is HX?
HX stands for Heat Exchange.
At the core of EHIRIX is an architecture developed around the way thermal energy moves through the roasting system.
Instead of treating heat generation and airflow as separate elements, HX approaches them as parts of a connected thermal process — from generating energy, through heat exchange and transfer, to controlling how that energy reaches the roasting chamber.
01
GENERATE
Thermal energy is generated for the roasting process.
02
EXCHANGE
Heat is exchanged through the HX system before being delivered to the roasting process.
03
TRANSFER
Thermal energy is transferred through controlled airflow toward the roasting chamber.
04
CONTROL
Heat and airflow are managed throughout the roast to support different roasting approaches.
Four principles. One roasting system.
01
HEAT
An architecture designed around how thermal energy is generated and transferred.
02
AIRFLOW
Airflow works together with heat transfer as an active part of the roasting process.
03
CONTROL
Designed to give the roaster flexibility in managing heat application throughout the roast.
04
REPEATABILITY
Developed with consistent workflow and repeatable profile development in mind.
03 / THE MACHINE
Designed for Roasters.
EHIRIX is designed as a professional roasting platform for exploring the relationship between heat, airflow, and roast development.

Full EHIRIX architecture.
Incoming air is preheated before combustion so recovered thermal energy can be reused as part of the roasting process.
The burner and heat-exchange system are designed to operate together as one thermal architecture for stable heat generation.
Airflow is treated as an active heat-transfer variable, allowing the roaster to manage how thermal energy moves through the roast.
Gas, airflow and drum operation are managed as controllable roasting variables for precise heat application and profile development.
EHIRIX Logger connects roast data and machine status in one interface, supporting monitoring, comparison and the development of repeatable roasting workflows.

BORN FROM THE ROASTERY
Built by people who roast coffee.
5F Coffee Lab began working with specialty coffee in Suwon, Korea in 2019.
Through years of production roasting, profile development, coffee evaluation, and experimentation with different approaches to roasting, our attention increasingly turned toward one fundamental variable: heat.
EHIRIX grew from that process — combining the perspective of a working roastery with the development of a new roasting platform.
The machine came after the question.
04 / EHIRIX IN JAPAN
From Korea to Japan
EHIRIX is already making its way into roasteries in Japan.
Developed by 5F Coffee Lab in Korea, EHIRIX is now being introduced to professional coffee roasteries across Japan, marking the first stage of its international expansion.
Japan is where EHIRIX has begun to move beyond development and into real roasting environments — working alongside roasters with different coffees, approaches, and ideas.
